Agadir Dolphin World: Dolphin Show
Big attraction in Agadir: the Dolphin World, which has settled by the sea, in Anza, northern district of the capital of Souss. This dolphinarium is located a few hundred meters from the dinosaur footprints and one hour from our riad.
Covering an area of one and a half hectares, Agadir Dolphin World is a Russian achievement, both in terms of its financing and the team in charge of the show, which features four dolphins and a seal.
The stands around the 430 m2 pool seat 500 people. The tank is filled with salt water pumped from the sea. The facility also includes a ‘dolphin clinic’, a souvenir shop and a café.
Some voices have been raised to protest the installation of an animation that holds animals in captivity and is at odds with new Western practices in this area. Others are delighted with this new attraction, in keeping with the aquatic dimension of Agadir. The creators of Dolphin World emphasise ‘the rehabilitation and reproduction of dolphins that meets environmental and ecological requirements’.
Performances
Performances take place on Thursday and Friday at 5pm, Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 5bpm. Reservations are not required. The show lasts 45 minutes, with commentary in several languages.
After each show, it is possible to swim individually with the dolphins Marusya and Romka, for 4 minutes. Companions can take photos and videos. Inflatable life jackets are available for non-swimmers. Alternatively, you can take photos with the dolphins or buy a professional photo printed within 5 minutes.
Prices
Prices are 200 dirhams (around € 18) for adults and 150 dirhams (around € 14) for children. Students: 170 dirhams (approx. € 15). Family packs : 2 adults and one child 430 dh; 2 adults and 2 children: 550 dh; 2 adults and 3 children 650 dh; 2 adults and 4 children 780 dh.
Swim with the dolphins for four minutes: 1,000 dirhams (around € 90). Taking photographs: 150 dh (maximum 5 people).
While these prices are in line with international tourist standards, local Moroccan families consider them too high.
